OUR SERVICES ALL SERVICES TO THOSE WHO STAY AT THE CITY MISSION ARE PROVIDED WITHOUT CHARGE.
EMERGENCY SHELTER: City Mission is the only emergency shelter in Hancock County that will accept men. Our Mission guests are single men and women, two parent families, single parent families, and handicapped persons. The Mission initially offers 7 nights of shelter with case management for every individual. If the individuals are making progress, they are offered extensions for as long as it takes to end homelessness in their lives.
NOURISHING MEALS: We provide 3 meals a day to those staying at the Mission and chapel and evening meals to Drop-Ins (local people who are in need, but not homeless).
COUNSEL AND SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE: The Mission provides an encouraging and supportive environment for those who come seeking help. Chapel services, mid-week Bible study, and spiritual guidance are available to all.
OUR PROGRAMS:*NEW LIFE DIRECTIONS PROGRAM*WOMEN AND FAMILIES PROGRAMDROP-IN PROGRAM: With the opening of the new addition in 1998, the Mission's food service began a Drop-In program for local people at the poverty level. People may come nightly for chapel and supper. It is not necessary for Drop-Ins to prove need. The evening meal is also available to former clients who are working and have found housing, but still find it difficult to make ends meet.
FOOD AND HYGIENE PACKETS: The Mission provides those in need who qualify with food baskets and hygiene packets once a month.
*The pictures and names of the homeless, unless specifically noted, are not of local homeless people.
