Needs
Our needs are diverse, and at
times the list can be long. We always need everyday items such as food,
family items and clothing. Donations can be made at the City Mission
facility at 510 W. Main Cross Street, Findlay.
One of our needs is money.
Financial donations help us purchase the items we need to care for the
people who use the City Mission. They also help us provide salaries
for the staff, maintain our vehicles, make repairs and make capital
improvements as well. City Mission of Findlay does not receive public
funding, and relies on private donations.
Finally, we need prayer. The
work we do at the Mission is not easy. Your prayers give us the strength to
tackle the daily tasks of running a Rescue Mission, and spreading the word
of the Gospel to all who pass through our doors.
Our constant wish list
includes: Cereals, deodorants, toilet paper, napkins and
paper towels, laundry detergents and fabric softener sheets, household cleaning
supplies, bath soap, shampoo, phone and gas cards and first-class postage stamps.
New Items Added- #10 size cans of fruit- all
kinds, ten pound bags of sugar, gallon size fruit drinks, snack items for packing lunches, single size
fruit juices. Frozen meats such as ground beef, chicken, and pork chops.
Services
All services provided without charge to those who stay at the City Mission
of Findlay. They include:
Emergency Shelter - City Mission is
the only emergency shelter in Hancock County. Our Mission guests are single
men and women, two parent families, single parent families, and handicapped
persons. Last year the Mission provided more than 4,600 nights of lodging to
those in need of emergency shelter. More than 60% of those in need were
local men, women and children.

Nourishing meals -
We provide three meals a day to those staying at the Mission. Last year we
provided 14,367 meals to men, 3,403 meals to women, and 2,390 meals to
children; a total of 20,160 meals for the year. The Mission's Drop-in Meals
program serves former members of our long term program who have found work and their own
housing but find money tight at the end of the month. The program also
serves anyone in the community who has a need for an evening meal. Community
members may come three times weekly at no charge. Drop-in Meals are served
every day at 5pm, 7 days a week. Top
Clothing Distribution - All those staying at the City Mission of
Findlay can select clothing from the Mission's stock of donated items.
Donations of men's and women's casual clothing are always welcome.

Social
Service Networking - The City Mission of Findlay enjoys a good
working relationship with the other social services of our community to whom
those with special needs may be referred. Findlay and Hancock County are
fortunate to have a wide range of organizations which can accommodate the
varied needs of our clients.

New
Life Directions Program - Local homeless men and families who express a serious intent
to find and keep a job may enter the Mission's New Life Directions program if they are
willing to follow the rules of the Mission, attend chapel services and Bible
study, and save 50% of their wages in a housing fund. The The New Life
Directions program is thirty to one-hundred twenty days in length. Those
who are in the program are regularly assessed and mentored. Top
Clients in the New Life
Directions program are working toward a goal of independent living. Classes designed to improve
life skills, job interview skills and money management are provided on a
weekly basis. Twelve-step recovery meetings are offered in the community to
assist residents with issues related to alcohol and drug abuse. The Mission also provides graduates of the
New Life Directions Program with
social support and practical counseling until they are fully independent
again. Top
Mentoring
and Spiritual Guidance - Those staying at the Mission
are mentored by the NLDP director. The Mission provides an
encouraging and supportive environment for those who come seeking help.
Chapel services, mid-week Bible Study and
spiritual guidance are available to all.
