Needs and Services Needs Our needs are diverse, and at times the list can be long. We always need everyday items such as food, family items and clothing. Donations can be made at the City Mission facility at 510 W. Main Cross Street, Findlay. One of our needs is money. Financial donations help us purchase the items we need to care for the people who use the City Mission. They also help us provide salaries for the staff, maintain our vehicles, make repairs and make capital improvements as well. City Mission of Findlay does not receive public funding, and relies on private donations. Finally, we need prayer. The work we do at the Mission is not easy. Your prayers give us the strength to tackle the daily tasks of running a Rescue Mission, and spreading the word of the Gospel to all who pass through our doors. Our constant wish list includes: Cereals, deodorants, toilet paper, napkins and paper towels, laundry detergents and fabric softener sheets, household cleaning supplies, bath soap, shampoo, phone and gas cards and first-class postage stamps. New Items Added- #10 size cans of fruit- all kinds, ten pound bags of sugar, gallon size fruit drinks, snack items for packing lunches, single size fruit juices. Frozen meats such as ground beef, chicken, and pork chops. Services Emergency Shelter - City Mission is the only emergency shelter in Hancock County. Our Mission guests are single men and women, two parent families, single parent families, and handicapped persons. Last year the Mission provided more than 4,600 nights of lodging to those in need of emergency shelter. More than 60% of those in need were local men, women and children. Top Nourishing meals - We provide three meals a day to those staying at the Mission. Last year we provided 14,367 meals to men, 3,403 meals to women, and 2,390 meals to children; a total of 20,160 meals for the year. The Mission's Drop-in Meals program serves former members of our long term program who have found work and their own housing but find money tight at the end of the month. The program also serves anyone in the community who has a need for an evening meal. Community members may come three times weekly at no charge. Drop-in Meals are served every day at 5pm, 7 days a week. Top Social Service Networking - The City Mission of Findlay enjoys a good working relationship with the other social services of our community to whom those with special needs may be referred. Findlay and Hancock County are fortunate to have a wide range of organizations which can accommodate the varied needs of our clients. Top New Life Directions Program - (Brochure) Phase 1 Transformation The Transformation Phase is a six month discipleship program that seeks to address root causes for addiction through a Biblical approach. In this program, up to six men are challenged through a structured daily schedule. This schedule includes Bible studies, classes, and house chores. This program is based upon Romans 12:1-2. In this portion of the program, it is our simple goal to see men build their lives upon a solid foundation of Christ. Phase 2 The Transitions Phase 2 is the training phase of the NLDP. In the Transitions Phase of the program men will be given the opportunity to continue to build upon their solid foundation. It is in Phase 2 that an individual begins to look for work. Through vocational training, men are given the opportunity to prepare for job placement. This portion of the program is very pivotal for an individual as he begins work and starts to save money. Phase 3 The Transplant The Transplant Program is the final stage of the NLDP. It is the "searching phase" where an individual continues to save money while he searches for a safe place to transition. We also work to refer men to appropriate agencies. In this phase, we stress to program men the importance of applying their new life skills. We want a person to build upon the foundation they received at the City Mission. TopMentoring and Spiritual Guidance - Those staying at the Mission are mentored by the NLDP director. The Mission provides an encouraging and supportive environment for those who come seeking help. Chapel services, mid-week Bible Study and spiritual guidance are available to all. Top
